Flames’ replicas yet to hit market in Mzuzu

Soccer fans in Mzuzu and other surrounding areas will wait longer to access the Flames replica jerseys on the market because FAM is yet to identify an agent .
FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda told the The Nation on Friday that the association is yet to identify a dealer to sell the replicas.
“People in Mzuzu should not worry, we are working on finding a dealer who can be selling the replicas from the second consignment that we are expecting.

“We know that people there in Mzuzu love their national team, so we are working on that,” said Nyirenda.
Five soccer fans led by Owen Nyirenda stormed Nation Publications Limited (NPL) Mzuzu Bureau offices on Saturday seeking FAM’s clarification on the matter.
The jerseys hit the market just two days prior to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations’ Group B home qualifier against Algeria at Into Sports shop at Chichiri  Mall in Blantyre.

According to Nyirenda the sales of the initial 1 000 replica jerseys was impressive as the association made a revenue of K5 million.
However, the sales somehow dropped following the Flames two straight losses to Algeria.
Nyirenda said FAM will step up its marketing drive ahead of the next home qualifier against Mali’s Eagles slated for November 15.
The replica jerseys are selling at K15 500 each and during the colourful launching ceremony held at College of Medicine Sports Complex recently, FAM president Walter Nyamilandu disclosed that  K51.5 million investment was made into the business venture and if all goes according to plan, the association is expecting a K20 million profit.
