Malawi Government has approved Flames camping in preparations for the international friendly match against China on May 9.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu said the team will go into camp soon after the burial of former State President Bingu wa Mutharika.

“I spoke with the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports [Alex Mseka] who confirmed that government has approved the trip.

“The team should start camping immediately after burial,” said Nyamilandu.

The FAM president also expressed gratitude to the Chinese Government for accepting the request to shift the game to May 9 from April 25 following the state funeral.

However, FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda on Sunday said they were still discussing with government as regards funding of the trip.

The Flames will take on the Chinese national team as part of their 2014 World Cup and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
