Flames face Zambia today

Flames saw off South Africa’s Bafana Bafana 5-4 on post-match penalties on Wednesday night to date Zambia’s Chipolopolo at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in 2015 Cosafa Plate category final today.
Flames deputy coach Jack Chamangwana has since called for revenge on Zambia who defeated Malawi 2-0 two weeks ago in a warm-up match.
“We needed this win. The tension was there, but we rectified mistakes we made on Monday and told the boys to just be cool. We knew once we get into penalties, we would go through,” Chamangwana said in interview.

“Now on Friday, we need to avenge. When we lost [2-1] to South Africa in a practice match and we were about to face them again, we told the guys that we needed to avenge. We did it and also need to beat Zambia.”
Now the Flames having missed out on ultimate K20 million (US$44 444) Cosafa Cup championship prize following a 5-4 post-match quarter defeat to Mambas on Monday must fight for K2.6 million (US$5 778) at stake in the plate category that pools losing quarter-finalists from the mainstream cup.
The aim of the plate is to give seeded quarter finalists more game time. The plate’s holders are Mozambique who met Botswana in mainstream Cosafa semi-final as we went to press. Madagascar and Namibia completed the other semi-final.
In the plate semi-final, the Flames defence showed discipline such that goalkeeper McDonald Harawa and Limbikani Mzava making up for their Monday’s gaffes, with spirited displays that kept South Africa at bay.
Malawi were very defensive and only took a first shot on target through Tizgobele Kumwenda, who had started ahead of Robin Ngalande, and the first corner kick only on 70th minute.
South Africa looked threatening through left-back Marc van Heerden’s set pieces, but Harawa took responsibility to clear lines. John Banda and man-of-the-match Micium Mhone, who was the only one to miss penalty, worked over time attacking and defending.
Harawa then stooped two penalties taken by Heerden and Siyabonga Nhlapo while Clayton Daniels, Mdududzi Nyanda, Lebohang Manyama and Motjeka Madisha converted.
Frank Banda, who replaced Gerald Phiri Junior, Mzava, Zicco Mkanda, who came in for injured Muhamad Sulumba, Lucky Malata and Robin Ngalande also converted.
Now the final hurdle at the same venue are Zambia who were earlier on the same day in devastating form as they ripped apart guests Ghana 3-0 with Nathan Sinkala, Bornwell Mwape and Aaron Katebe scoring.
The Chipolopolo have brought an experienced side led by goalkepeer Kennedy Mweene, so the Flames can expect probably their toughest opposition of the tournament.
Zambia are outgoing Cosafa Cup kings and coach Honour Janza believes winning the plate final would be more than deserved.
