Chilemba sept20 | The Nation OnlineIsaac Chilemba has revealed that he fought Saturday’s World Boxing Council (WBC) light-heavyweight final eliminator with Anthony Bellew while suffering from flu.

“I didn’t do more than enough due to bad flu I had on the night, and with the home decision, I was lucky to get a draw. I learnt something. Next time, I get sick before a fight, I will cancel it and not take chances as it affects my performance,” Chilemba said on Thursday in response to a questionnaire.

He said he was still in the United Kingdom waiting for WBC’s decision on a rematch. The winner between the two will face WBC title holder Chad Dawson.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the rematch is scheduled for April 25 2013 in London. Chilemba earlier wanted the fight at a neutral venue.

“I will be happy if this happens. I need to show the world that I am 80 percent better than I was on Saturday night. I am still in UK till Sunday and, if the fight comes through, I will be flying to USA next week to start preparations. We are waiting for Bellew’s camp to take the rematch,” Chilemba added.

After being slammed through ESPN website by his promoter Eddie Heart as not being ready for Dawson, Bellew (30) addmitted that he was not at his best against Chilemba.
