FMB has increased sponsorship of Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) Cricket Tournament from K3 million to K3.5 million.

The bank announced this at the company’s head office in Blantyre during an event witnessed by head of corporate banking Agnes Jazza, senior corporate relationship manager Martha Moyo, corporate relationship manager Mathews Phoso and marketing manager Widdey Nsona.

FMB head of marketing Slyvia Mataka said the K500 000 increment is a token of appreciation for the support they get from the cricket fraternity.

“We have sponsored cricket for four years now and we are satisfied with the symbiotic relationship we have with MSC and the cricket fraternity,” she said.

“We are also eager to grow various sporting disciplines and cricket is one of them. As you know, we also sponsor other codes such as hockey, rugby and Under-20 football.”

Mataka added that they are delighted to see indigenous Malawians being involved in the annual competition through Cricket Academy 2 (CA2) and CA1.

MSC chairperson Farouk Ibrahim Nathanie, who was accompanied by his deputy Iqbal Aboo and executive committee members Makbul Latif and Akbar Bhana, thanked FMB for the continued support.

According to Latif, the 2017 edition of the competition will throw off next week and will comprise 16 teams; 12 MSC teams that are differentiated by colours, CA1 and 2, Indian Sports Club (ISC) and Oriental Cricket Club (OCC). n
