The national finals of FMB Under-20 Football League will roll out today at Dedza Stadium where four finalists will battle for glory while shimmering in brand new kits.
FMB marketing manager Sylvia Mataka presented the kits to hosts Soccer Saints, Central Region ambassadors Pacs FC, South’s champions Griffin Young Stars and North’s Fish Eagles during a press briefing held at the bank’s head office in Blantyre on Wednesday.

“As the competition grows from strength to strength, it has pleased us to keep on building the excitement by dressing all the national finalists. On top of that, the best three teams will get cash prizes,” said Mataka while urging the players to maintain discipline.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) executive member Flora Mwandira, who was accompanied by competitions officer Gomezgani Zakazaka, hailed the bank for helping to improve soccer from grassroots.

While appreciating the bank’s support, National Youth Football Committee (NYFC) chairperson Mabvuto Missi assured the bank that they will maintain financial prudence on sponsorship package and continue to make sure age-cheating is rooted out of the contest.

The national finals will start at semi-finals stage today with Fish Eagles FC facing Soccer Saints this morning and Pacs FC taking on Young Stars. The winners will sort it out in the grand finale tomorrow (Saturday).  Today’s fixtures follow a draw conducted during the press briefing.
The games will precede a trophy parade and a mini-soccer tournament among some primary schools in Dedza. FMB started sponsoring the U-20 contest in 2009.
