FMB has increased sponsorship for Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) Cricket Tournament from last year’s K2.5 million to K3 million.

During a cheque presentation in Blantyre on Friday, the bank’s head of marketing Sylvia Mataka said the K500 000 increment is meant to appreciate the teams’ good conduct in last year’s event and keep up their effort of uplifting standards of various sporting disciplines in the country.

“We are happy with the way participating teams conducted themselves in last year’s competition and we hope they will do the same this year,” said Mataka, who was accompanied by head of business and private banking Leman Chisi and marketing manager Widdey Nsona.

“We are also eager to continue uplifting standards of various sports disciplines and cricket is one of them. As you know, we are also in Under-20 football and hockey sponsorship.”

MSC sports director Abdul Wahab Jagot thanked the bank for the support and assured that the sponsorship package will be used for the intended purpose.

“This is the third year that FMB has been bankrolling MSC cricket and we do not take it for granted. We are very grateful and we promise not to disappoint,” he said.

According to MSC board member Makbul Latif, the 20 overs competition will run from September 11 to October 7.
