FMB supports NPL’s Mother’s Fun Run

FMB, one of the country’s commercial banks, gave K1 million (about $2 600) worth of items to Nation Publications Limited (NPL) corporate social responsibility initiative, Mothers Fun Run.

Presenting the items, FMB head of marketing Sylvia Mataka said the donation was made as one way of fulfilling its corporate social responsibility and also to support the health sector.

fun-runShe said the bank realises that it is only healthy people that can positively contribute to the economic development of any country.

“When we were approached by NPL to support the fun run project, we felt it was for a good cause knowing the problems faced in the health sector, especially in maternal health,” she said, adding that the bank is happy to be part of the project and will continue to support the initiative.

Among the donated items were six heaters, six fans, 15 clocks and six food warmers.

NPL learning and development manager Mike Kandulu thanked the bank for supporting the life saving project.

“We are indebted to FMB for partnering with us again this year. This donation will go a long way in addressing some of the shortfalls at the beneficiary hospital,” he said.

He said NPL as a responsible corporate citizen will continue to compliment government’s efforts in addressing maternal health problems by conducting the Fun Run every year to raise funds to procure maternal equipment for government hospitals.

The Fun Run was was this year held in Mangochi on Saturday.
