Achieving half-century scores seemed easy tasks for pace-men in the newly introduced 25-Overs Inter-Club Cricket Tournament where four individuals crossed the 50-run scoring mark on Sunday.

Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) Gold Fattani’s Sadik Bhathi, Oriental Cricket Club’s (OCC) Mohsin Dutiya, Sohel Rustam of MSC Silver and Nooran Wali of MSC Black achieved the feat.

Bhathi made an individual contribution of 85 runs, but his effort proved too little to save his side from defeat by MSC Purple, who took glory after making 203 runs in 24.4 overs.

The same applied to Wali, whose 56 runs were not even close to rescuing MSC Black from losing to OCC.

OCC got their victory thanks to individual brilliance of Dutiya, who made 79 runs as his team settled for 139 runs in just 21 overs.

Rustam put together 69 runs not-out to help MSC Silver secure a trouble-free victory over MSC White. White made 118 runs in the entire 25 overs, but Silver did it in just 17.4 overs.

This was the fourth time Rustam has crossed the half-century scoring mark in four consecutive games, including in the 20-Overs Inter-Club Cricket Tournament that is expected to conclude this Sunday with a final between MSC White and MSC Blue.

According to the competition’s organising chairperson Saeed Limdawala, the 25-overs contest will run until the end of October.
