Four uncapped players in Flames squad for TZ match

Flames coach Young Chimodzi has named four new faces in the squad that is scheduled to travel to Tanzania today for Saturday’s friendly match against Taifa Stars.

The three rookies include Under-20 and Surestream FC midfield star Ernest Tambe while the others are Red Lions’ Chikoti Chirwa, Support Battalion’s Amos Khamula and Zimbabwe-based Gerald Phiri Jnr who turns out for Caps United.

“The three were outstanding during training and they could be handed their first caps on Saturday depending on how they perform in the next few days,” said Chimodzi.

Apart from Phiri Jnr, the squad also includes six other foreign-based players namely captain Joseph Kamwendo (DR Congo); Esau Kanyenda, Limbikani Mzava and Harry Nyirenda (South Africa); Frank Banda and Chimango Kayira (Mozambique).

Making a return to the squad after sometime is striker Peter Wadabwa.

According to FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda, the match will be played in Mwanza from 3pm local time.

The full list of players  is as follows: Richard Chipuwa, McDonald Harawa, Francis Mulimbika, Lucky Malata, John Lanjesi, Mzava, Nyirenda, Frank and John Banda, Kamwendo, Micium Mhone, Phiri Jnr, Tambe, Chirwa, Wadabwa, Kayira and Kanyenda. n
