The Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM) has injected money into the Miss Malawi beauty pageant.

The Youth friendly sexual and  reproductive health services provider has pumped in K3 million.

Making the donation, FPAM executive director, Thokozani Mbendera says the sponsorship is in line with what the association believes in.

“We pride ourselves in being the leading youth friendly organization in the country. This year’s Miss Malawi theme revolves around addressing overpopulation and we offer services that concern a lot of issues including effects of increase in population.
“Our dream is to make  the beauty queen our ambassador, and agent for change.

Chairperson for the Miss Malawi organising committee Albert Banda hailed FPAM for the sponsorship saying it contributes to a national course.
“Overpopulation is an issue of national importance that needs support through innovative initiatives like Miss Malawi contest. Apart from going a long way in helping us carry out Miss Malawi activities, we hope the sponsorship will excite other corporate entities to come on board,” he said.

After a successful Southern Region final on February 3 , the beauty pageant returns on April 28 at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe where 14 girls will battle it out for the grand finals.
