Fr. Kachere calls for project support

Parish Priest of Nakhwali Parish in Mangochi, Father Francis Kachere, has urged beneficiaries of the livelihoods and economic recovery project being implemented by the Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (Cadecom) to be supportive of the project activities in a bid to improve their socio–economic status.

Speaking during a briefing with Nakhwali Parish Development Committee, Kachere disclosed that 10 villages have been selected to participate in the project representing 3 000 families.

“As beneficiaries, be supportive and remain committed to the activities under the initiative to make it successful and bear meaningful results. Cadecom is undertaking the scheme to complement government efforts in improving people’s lives, especially those living the rural areas.

“Commitment and support from beneficiaries is a requisite for the success of this project. It is quite pleasing that all the 10 villages that have been selected for the project are under Nakhwali Parish. It is my expectation that the project will transform your lives from poverty to prosperity and there will also be change of lives spiritually, physically as well as economically,” Kachere told the gathering.

Cadecom diocesan secretary, Fodreck Nyongani, said the project would be implemented in Malembo in the area of Traditional Authority Nankumba in the district.

According to Nyongani, the project will run for three years with funds from the Scottish Government through the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund.
