If I were

Francis Kasaila

Listen to this article

Deputy spokesperson of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), I would realise that while my party supporters had the right to protest against the arrest of their leaders, it should not have been a reason to turn violent.

If I were Kasaila, I would condemn the acts of violence by a section of my party’s followers.

How I wish I were the DPP deputy spokesperson, because I would call on my party’s followers to allow the law to take its course, instead of opting for violent acts.

I would appreciate, if I were Kasaila, that while the DPP supporters may give moral support to the party leadership, it is not proper to damage public property and cause disorder in cities.

If only I were Kasaila, I would discipline my party followers to ensure that any political violation must be avoided at all costs.

If I were Kasaila, I would appreciate that the pandemonium that erupted was not good for the country and indeed the image of the party.

That is, of course, if I were bwana Kasaila. Unfortunately [or is it fortunately?], I am not the good man that is Francis!
