G.Y Imports and Exports Nozobal finals Sunday

The Northern Zone Basketball League (Nozobal) Championship finals between Nkhulande and Moyale takes place on Sunday at Katoto Secondary School Court in Mzuzu.

The event is sponsored by G.Y Imports and Exports to the tune of K800 000 ($1,429) which will see the winning team carting home K300 000 ($536).

This is the first time in seven years that Nozobal has secured sponsorship and the league’s vice-chairperson Aaron Manda could not hide his excitement, saying: “We are very appreciative to the sponsor for coming to our rescue after years of sponsorship drought.”

G.Y. Import and Export managing director Griffin Kalua said they decided to sponsor the league as one way of reviving the sport in Mzuzu and surrounding areas.

Apart from the prize money, teams will also be rewarded by medals and basketballs.

There will also be curtain-raising matches prior to the final. n
