Flames striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango has returned to his base in South Africa where he has started training with his Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Bidvest Wits.

The Malawian international flew to the Rainbow Nation on Wednesday after spending at least three months in the country to recover from an injury he sustained during Wits’ 2-1 win over Cape Town City in February in Cape Town.

Gaba: I am fully fit

The injury appeared to be serious as he had to use crutches and wear a moonboot.

But in a WhatsApp interview yesterday, the former Nyasa Big Bullets forward said he is 100 percent fit and has already started training with the Clever Boys.

“I am fully fit and I will do my best to reclaim my place in the team. As I am talking now, I am having a training session with the club. We will talk more after the training,” said the striker, who was Wits’ top scorer in the 2016/17 season with nine goals and had two league goals in the just ended season.

Mhango left South Africa when Wits was on eighth position in the 16-team South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) with 28 points from 22, games but the outfit finished the season on 14th place with 36 points from 30 matches.

Due to the injury, the 25-year-old missed the senior national football team’s away friendly match against Uganda’s Cranes on March 27.

His recovery is good news for Flames coach Ronny Van Geneugden who recently said he would like to have all professional players including Gabadihno, for the forthcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cameroon and Morocco.

“We need all our top players,” RVG had said. n
