Flames striker ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango finally breathed life into his ailing South Africa Absa Premiership career with a brace to hand Bloemfontein Celtic a 2-0 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces at Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday night.

Having gone all season without a sniff of a goal, Mhango struck in the 61st and 86th minutes to hand recalled coach Clinton Larsen a winning return. The win has ended Celtic’s four-game winless run and a jump to 20 points on 10th place. Aces, managed by veteran Clive Barker, dropped to eighth with 21 points.

In netting the opener, www.kickOff.com  reports that, Gaba turned home a cross from Thapelo Morena before grabbing the insurance goal at death with a scrambled effort. Larsen showed faith in Gabadinho by handing him a full game having, under fired Ernest Middendorp, been featured sparingly.

However, for fourth consecutive game Gaba’s compatriot Limbikani Mzava did not play. Larsen has since set his sights high, saying: “The target of the club is always a top-four position and that is not going to change.”

In other games in South Africa, Platinum Stars and Chippa United drew 1- 1 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium where midfielder Robert Ng’ambi missed his second consecutive game due to a groin injury he picked last week.

There was also another stalemate between Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows.
