SouthAfrica-based forward Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango says he hopes to get more game time at his Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Bidvest Wits after scoring against Black Leopards recently

Mhango told kickoff.com that he was thrilled to get a rare run against Leopards in the Absa Premiership.

Mhango: I was excited

Mhango, 26, scored the game’s only goal after making his second appearance of the season at Peter Mokaba Stadium last weekend.

“Last game I played was eight minutes or 10 minutes I think and it was against SuperSport [United], and this game I played about 15 minutes,” Mhango told kickoff.com.

“I thank God because it’s been long since I’ve been on the pitch. I just thank God man. Yeah, for me as a player it’s important for me to be playing games, so I just hope to be part of the team again and start playing games.”

Asked about his relationship with coach Gavin Hunt, the Flames forward, who still awaits feedback from Vitoria Setubal following his trial in Portugal, said: “He was just like, ‘No, I’m happy for you and I wish you all the best’. That was after the game. As a player I just wish that the team does well, does good, that’s what I want.

“I can’t talk about individuals because in football you don’t play alone, we play as a team. For me it’s good that I scored last week because I have been out for so long. So, for me to score sometimes it gives me motivation. And my welcome back, it was good I think. I can’t talk about the next game for the team. I think we just need to start winning again. We want to take each and every game.”

In an interview with The Nation, Mhango said the goal has boosted his confidence.

“It was my first goal and obviously I was excited, especially coming off the bench to score a vital goal,” he said.
