Gabadinho Mhango netted Bloemfontein Celtic’s winner and Robert Ng’ambi granted Platinum Stars a cushion goal as Malawians stole the South Africa Premiership midweek limelight.

Gabadinho came off the bench in the 53th minute to add the winner when Bloemfontein Celtic beat Polokwane City 2-1 and jump from eighth to sixth on the standings at the Sebothelo Stadium.

Moffat Mduli of City had cancelled out Celtic’s Joel Magorosi opener.

It was Mhango’s fifth league goal in 12 matches, but he is yet to play a full game. The ex-Big Bullets wonder kid also has one cup goal.

Ng’ambi, who joins compatriot Atusaye Nyondo as joint Malawian top South Africa league scorer on six goals, created the opener by Siphelele Mthembu on 10 minutes before connecting a cross in the 59th minute.
