Celtic website reported yesterday that main sponsor MTN were the joint partners of the awards ceremony where Mhango got recognised for finishing the season with nine goals. He joined Celtic while the league was in progress and played inly three full games. Celtic finished fifth in the league.

“I am so proud to have won both these awards and I want to tell people out there that hard work and determination pays off. Next season, I want to score even more goals and I am full of confidence and belief. Winning these awards has capped off a great season for me personally and for the team,” Mhango told www.bloemfonteincelticfc.co.za.

“The speedy and deceptively powerful striker came to the club from Big Bullets and has proved a lethal attacker, combining raw speed, with good skills and intelligent running off the ball as well as a cool head in front of goal,” reported the website.

“His goals, especially in the second-half of the season, were one of the main reasons Celtic enjoyed such a brilliant 2014,” added the website.

During the same event, Clayton Daniels won the Player of the Season Award, striker Trevor Lamola got the Rookie of the Season Award whereas the Youth Development Players’ Player of the Season Award went to Apiwe Lubisi while the Ladies’ Players Player of the Season Award went to Kgalebane Mohlakoana.

All the winners also received bed and breakfast vouchers from Accommodation Partner, Tsogo Sun and R1 500 in Reebok Vouchers. Celtic chief executive officer Khumbulani Conco thanked the sponsors.

“We are happy with the performance of the team, especially in the second-half of the season. We were near the bottom of the log at the beginning of the year and we managed to produce a stirring 2014. That bodes well for the future,” Conco was quoted as saying.n
