Big Bullets wonderkid Gabadinho Mhango has been named TNM Super League player of the month of August. The sensational striker was crowned on Sunday at Balaka Stadium where his team drew a 1-1 against a resilient Kamuzu Barracks.

This achievement comes barely a fortnight after he scooped the 2012 Presidential Cup Golden Boot and Player of the Tournament awards.

Gabadinho received K15 000 (about $50), mobile handset, a miniature, TNM-branded golf-shirt and cap. The prizes were presented to him by Super League of Malawi (Sulom) president Innocent Bottomani assisted by some TNM officials.

The young striker was awarded for being instrumental in Bullets’ stellar performance in the league.

“I am happy to be named ‘player of the month’. This is not a mean achievement. It means a lot to me. I owe it to God. I have always worked hard to up my game and followed the coach’s instructions. Today, my hard work has paid off,” said Gabadinho.

He also attributed his success to his teammates, whom he said have contributed to his recent good performance.

“This award will propel me to continue working hard so that I maintain my current [good] form,” said Gabadinho.

During the Sunday game, Kamuzu Barracks’ Joel Chipofya sent the fully-packed stadium into a cathedral silence when he scored in the 50th minute, but Dalitso Silva, who came in for Fischer Kondowe, cancelled the lead during added time.
