Gafu Sisters stumble in Mutharika NR League

Listen to this article

Gafu Sisters FC let the Northern Region Peter Mutharika Women Football Trophy slip through their fingers when they lost 4-0 to Kwaito Sisters at Chibavi ground in Mzuzu.

Temwa Kaonga was the hero of the day as she claimed a hat-trick. The other goal was scored by Mwawi Ziba.

“I also do not understand how these things happen. We used our first-choice goalkeeper Linda Kawonga and same players, but we still conceded goals,” said Gafu coach Fumbani Gondwe.

He admitted that they are now out of the race considering that Kwaito have a game in hand against Chibavi Challengers next week, whose result will not change anything. Gafu have finished their games on 31 points whereas Kwaito have 35 points.

On his part, Kwaito captain Patricia Banda said they will not drop any point. She vowed to punish Chibavi Challengers to ensure they finish top of the league with a clean sheet.
