General Alliance sponsors accountants’ lakeshore conference

General Alliance, one of the insurance companies on Wednesday donated K3 million to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) in support of their annual Lakeshore Conference.

This year’s conference will be held on 16 to 18 September at Sun and Sand Holiday Resort in Mangochi under the Navigating the economic terrain: Moving forward regardless of challenges.

Speaking during the handover of the cheque in Blantyre, General Alliance finance manager Samuel Nyasulu applauded the role ICAM plays in promoting the accounting discipline in the country.

 “We made the contribution because we know the conference is important as it brings professionals together to share ideas.

“This year’s theme will equip our accountants with skills that will assist them to navigate through the global economic challenges and understanding the structure of our economy by the effects of Covid-19 pandemic which has also affected the way we do things,” he said. 

ICAM director of education and training Chrissie Jere hailed the insurer for sponsoring this year’s conference.

 “Participants in this year’s event will benefit from a number of topics on how best we are going to move forward now as Covid-19 has come to stay,” she said.
