Mighty Wanderers have received some boost with news that their starlet Gerald Phiri Junior might return to action before the end of their TNM Super League title chase.

Phiri took the first step towards recovery from a jaw injury after having stitches removed from his injured jaw on Monday at Masm Clinic in Blantyre.

“What remains are the bracelets for the teeth to stabilise in the next two weeks. At least, I can now open my mouth. It has been tough being unable to eat, only surviving on drinks,” Phiri said on Tuesday.

He resumed light non-contact training with the Nomads on Monday while waiting for the bracelets to be removed.

Gerald Phiri Senior is equally hopeful that his son will return to competitive action soon.

“I am grateful to Dr Charles Ottober of Masm Clinic for the wonderful job on my son. He did all he could to ensure his fast recovery,” the former MDC United legend said.
