The online publications report that Sauti-Phiri was arrested at about 11.30am when she disembarked an Ethiopian Airlines flight number ET921 from Malawi.

The reports indicate that interrogations revealed that the contraband was found in a luggage logged ET 331006, which Sauti-Phiri said was given to her by one Samuel Onyeba Imo, a Nigerian to deliver to one Val, another Nigerian residing in Ghana.

The websites are quoting prosecution team as saying Sauti-Phiri claimed ownership of the bag.

A search in the bag revealed quantities of white powdery substance, which was field-tested and proved to be heroin.

Presiding officer Aboagye Tandoh has since charged Sauti-Phiri with importation of narcotic drug without licence from the Ministry of Health and possessing narcotic drug without lawful authority. n

  1. I am assuming that she managed to sneak thru our well trained security officers at our international airports wherever she flew from, only to be stopped at a very small and remote airport in Ghana. Thumbs up to the Ghanian security forces………
I think now serious questions have to be asked as to how she manages to evade our airport security and took this contraband on the plane to Ghana. We need to know the names of the police, custom, immigration officers on duty on that day to understand how she managed to take this stuff on board, What if it was a bomb? Did our security personnel at the airport collude in this? This is a huge embracement to the Malawi govt…………..
