Local creatives have a chance to benefit from a global online networking site www.artnsips.com  is being hosted in Copenhagen, Denmark.

According to information from the brains behind the initiative, the platform will connect creatives from all mediums of art who are looking to explore opportunities and link up with people from across the world through unique artistic social experiences.

The hosts have, therefore, extended an invitation to local creatives who are willing to be part of the initiative to express their interest by registering through their closed Facebook group after entering the required particulars.

“The platform will also provide for the artists gain additional exposure and earn extra income. The local artists that are interested are required to enlist with ArtNsips Facebook group to join the network,” reads the communication in part.

Local creative players and commentators alike have since welcomed the initiative though they have called for caution in view of the online fraud that has become rampant.

Visual artist Madalitso Ziwaoh said the initiative represents an opportunity worth exploring from both the marketing and exposure perspectives. He said it is encouraging that some organisations are coming up with ideas to promote creative arts digitally.

He said: “Malawian art is not recognised internationally. This can help us reach the mark of producing real art with a meaning.”

Arts commentator and manager Denis Imaan said Malawian creatives should take the opportunity seriously since it can help take their craft from their usual spaces to a new audience where there is a lot of potential for new opportunities.

“There are too many international opportunities online but the local artists are not doing enough to exploit them. We have not taken advantage of the new technological age and sadly we still have a long way to go,” he said.

Imaan implored artists to consider themselves as business that needs all the structures in place at every level for it to thrive. He said they need to acquaint themselves with things such as proposal writing.

As part of the ArtNsips deal, the creatives will also have an opportunity to travel and enjoy artistic experiences hosted by local artists from particular countries in bars, restaurants, cafes and galleries.
