Golf team off to Uganda

Airtel Malawi yesterday gave the national golf team a hearty send off as they boarded their flight to Kampala, Uganda.

Airtel has contributed K4 million towards the team’s participation at the Zone VI Games which tee-off this evening.

golf_airtelThe tournament has attracted 12 countries, namely Kenya, Botswana, Mozambique, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, South Africa and the host Uganda

Airtel brands and communication manager Isabel Kachinjika said her company is always happy to be associated with the national golf team; hence, their contribution towards the trip.

“Our contribution to the national team is to motivate you to play well and bring honours. We hope you will represent us well in Uganda,” said Kachinjika.

Ugandan Golf Union president Kirwowa Kwanuka  is quoted by The Observer as having said the  2015 Africa Zone VI Golf Championship will be officially opened by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni  at the par 72 Uganda Golf Club in the calm Kitante suburb of Kampala.

Kwanuka said the event has attracted 120 international golfers from 12 countries, including the host Uganda.

Leader of Malawi delegation Frank Mvalo, who is also Golf Union of Malawi (GUoM) vice-president, assured Airtel that this time around the team will do well.
