The school project, which started in 2017 in Sub-Traditional Authority (ST/A) Chambwe’s area, followed the dilapidated state of what used to be Kadifula CDSS. It includes four classroom blocks, a library complex, a complete laboratory block, sanitary facility and a special needs section.

Kadifula DCSS head teacher Fodrick Phiri said the facility will help to improve the standards of education at Kadifula and the rest of the country.

On his part, Central East Education Division manager Billy Chikhwana Banda noted that shortage of structures for learning remains a challenge within the division.

“We need the support of partners, and when they support us, it must be a complete package just like we have seen here where we are talking about a school with a good laboratory, library, teachers’ houses and a recreational hall,” he said.

ST/A Chambwe also expressed joy stating that the new school is a development which will change the face of his community. He also appealed to his subjects on members of his community to take good care of the school.

Good Neighbours country director Jooyong Choi said the project cost K800 million.

The organisation, with support from the Government of South Korea, has also provided bursaries to 70 students at Chambwe, as well as 320 desks, 42 stools, 120 portable chairs and starter-pack writing materials to the school.

It has also pledged to construct two girls’ hostels, a multipurpose hall and teachers’ houses. n
