Ndilowe: We are in control and the governance structure is working

The chief secretary to Malawi Government, Hawa Ndilowe, says government is shocked with looting of public resources as revealed by a number of arrests that followed the shooting of director of Budget Paul Mphwiyo two weeks ago.

Ndilowe fell short of admitting that there is a crisis in this country. She said the arrests are a breakthrough by the Malawi Government.
“Recent arrests have not been out of magic, they are a result of hard work, says Ndilowe.
Ndilowe was briefing the media this morning  at OPC Headquarters in the capital city, Lilongwe.
The chief secretary also acknowledges that a ‘lot of money’ has been stolen through payment system IFMIS. She, however, did not mention the amount of the money that has been stolen so far.
But Ndilowe was quick to fault the IFMIS which has been operational from 2005 and since been suspended to stop the “bleeding” of public funds.
Said Ndilowe:  “To all those public servants who are stealing, we are determined to ensure that you are arrested and punished. A forensic audit is being arranged to analyse data from a few years back.”
Ndilowe said following the events of the past week government controlling officers will now to be assessed on financial management.
The chief secretary pleaded with the general public to ‘acknowledge the little things we are doing”.
“We are in control and the governance structure is working,” assured Ndilowe.

  3. Recovery should be part of the campaign. 2005 to 2013 is too long for the government not to realize the pilferage from the treasury. it means high places were involved. One politician paid his life for challenging things like this in 1983. Thirty years later we still have the same problem? Mwanyera pogona. Gadama did not die in vain? Boma lisake onse akuba chifukwa choti ali in high places! ndipo abweze zonse.

  4. It bugs me off how we Malawians are sometimes short sighted and politicians take advantage of our ignorance to twist our minds.

As a nation we have over the years been crying of rampage corruption in government and called for tough measures to be put in place to fight this evil.

I agree with one Hon Ken Msonda, who posted on his fb that finally we have a President who have courageously put measures at capital hill and other government institutions to fight corruption.
These measures have lead to what is happening now at capital hill.

Instead of applauding and commending H.E. Dr JB for ajob well done, we are busy accusing the President.

Some are calling for the Presidents resignation, for what. This is total madness!

Ths evil called corruption have been the at capital hill over the years. No wonder over Mk69bn of tax payers funds found its way in personal accounts and former President Dr Bakili Muluzu is answering charges of having unexplained Mk1.7bn in his personal account.

Look at houses of government offiicials built in Lilongwe before the ascendancy of H.E. Dr Mrs Joyce Banda to the high office of State President, you dont need to be told that the plundering at capital hill started years back.

Wake up felllow citizens of my beloved country, look at a bigger picture, dont be fooled by those who already plundered this country and now are behaving like Angels when they are wolves in a sheep skin.
