“We got communication from the chief secretary that he is happy with our feat and wants to celebrate with the players. It is an honour to us and the players,” said the club’s general secretary Rashid Ntelera in an interview on Wednesday in Lilongwe.

Civo United are sponsored by the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC).

Ntelera said the luncheon will provide the players and officials an opportunity to meet the chief secretary and tell him their expectations and also challenges.

He also retaliated the club’s promise that the players will share 60 percent of the K10 million ($17,857) prize money.

“We are not going back on our word, we will fulfil the promise. The players need to be rewarded for their sweat. They (players) have done the club proud and need to be motivated,” he said.
