Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development has commended Mission Rabies for embarking on an anti-rabies vaccination Campaign currently in progress in Blantyre.
The ministry’s deputy director of animal health and livelihood development, Patrick Chikungwa, expressed the sentiments at the launch of Year 2 Rabies Vaccination and Treatment in Blantyre which started on May 1.
During the month of May, Mission Rabies will be vaccinating one dog in every three minutes.
Chikungwa said rabies remained a big challenge in the country and the coming in of other stakeholders such as Mission Rabies enhances civic education.
Kate Shervell, director of Mission Rabies International, said the mission expects to vaccinate 70 percent of the dogs in Blantyre during the campaign.
