Government plans to introduce a mindset education programme (MEP) in the local education curriculum to develop strong and positive-minded Malawians capable of overcoming obstacles.

Minister of Education, Science and Technology Emmanuel Fabiano disclosed this when he launched the programme in Lilongwe yesterday.

Said Fabiano: “The mindset education programme has come at the right time when government is implementing various reforms in the public sector. We believe that this programme will play a crucial role in improving the quality of education in this country.”

IYF secretary general Hun Mok Lee observed that majority of the young people in the world do not recognise their potential, thereby failing to utilise their talents to develop themselves.

He, therefore, expressed optimism that the programme will fill in and exceed the shortcomings of the current establishments and systems.

MEP is an initiative of the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) and aims to provide training and guidance for spiritual and mental growth, which are said to be essential for youth development.
