‘Govt to promote 40 000 staff in Education Ministry’

Minister of Education, Science and Technology Agnes Nyalonje says government plans to promote 40 000 staff in the ministry.

The minister said this on Friday in Blantyre during her familiarisation tour of Malawi College of Distance Education (MCDE).

Said Nyalonje: “The ministry is working with the Department of Human Resource Management and Development to complete the promotion of 40 000 staff within the education sector.

“There are people who have worked for more than 15 years without being promoted, including teachers and this is not an overnight problem.”

On his part, MCDE acting deputy director Henry Gwede said since the institution was established in 1965, the equipment for producing learning materials has outlived their performance.
