Minister of Information, Tourism and Culture Kondwani Nankhumwa says government has no intention to influence the ongoing Cashgate prosecutions.

He was addressing the press in Lilongwe on Thursday to brief them about the surrender to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) closed circuit television (CCTV) footage showing a series of alleged meetings between former president Joyce Banda and Cashgate suspect Osward Lutepo.

He said government’s role was just to facilitate the process to let Malawians know who actually stole public money.

The meeting between Banda and Lutepo are said to have been held at State Residences in Lilongwe, Blantyre, Mzuzu and Mangochi.

“We surrendered copies of gate entry registers and appointment bookings for Lutepo to see Banda. The footage and registers are recorded between December 2012 and September 2013,” he said.
