The event will aim to launch a discussion with relevant government departments and the UN to prepare for the domestication of the SDGs in Malawi and take a step towards creating a social pact envisioned by the trust and incorporating key stakeholders who will help to drive the SDG agenda.

During her visit, Machel is also expected to meet Malawi Government officials, members of civil society and representatives of women businesspersons.

The UN appointed Machel as SDGs advocate in January 2016, to assist in achieving the goals unanimously adopted by world leaders at the United National General Assembly in September 2015.

According to the UN Mission in Malawi, Machel, who visited Malawi last year will again use the mission to engage with programmes that her trust drives and supports in the country. n
