Great Angels first DVD goes for K2m

The Great Angels Choir on Christmas Day took their latest DVD, Mwasankha Ine, to their base in Lilongwe at Sheaffer ICA Marque where they performed amid a heavy downpour.

The rains nearly foiled the show and, while some fans braved it, others hid in their cars, but the most important thing happened when the first copy of the DVD was sold for a whooping K2 million.

Prophet Justice Hara, who was the guest of honour, ensured that the Lilongwe-based choir takes home a considerable amount from the DVD launch when he out-priced all to get the first copy.

There was a good turnout of fans but many left the show before it was finished, freeing from the rains while a few thronged the small marque with hope it would stop.

Veteran musician Allan Ngumuya bought a copy at K50 000.

About 12 artists, among them Prophets of Vision (POV), Steve Muliya, Limbani Simenti, Billy Kaunda, Grace Chinga, MlakaMaliro, Marvelous Deeds, Peter Mlangeni and Great Anglican Soldiers performed at the show.

The show, which was expected to start at 1 pm, started late only to be affected by the rains.

The Lilongwe launch came after a successful launch in Blantyre at BAT Ground and the next destination for the 10 track DVD launch will be Balaka before the northern region. n
