After keeping local patrons on their feet with four albums in the past 11 years, Great Angels Choir has an opportunity to expand their fan base internationally.

For the first time, ‘the people’s choir’ has lined up four shows in Zambia and South Africa to launch their new album Mwasankha Ine in May and August this year respectively.

The shows are part of the choir’s plan to hold a national tour where they will visit the four country’s cities and six districts.

Revealing the news, the choir’s music director Ephraim Zonda said discussions are underway with South Africa-based promoter DJ Flavour to find dates and venues for shows in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria.

He, however, said in Pretoria, the choir is expected to worship at Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church where they will also have a performance.

“We will be in Lusaka for four days and three weeks in South Africa. Presently, William Zonda [the choir’s leader] is in South Africa to sort out issues of venue and dates,” he said.

Zonda said the choir will also take advantage of the visit to the two nations to launch their previous three albums.

“It will be our first time to be in Zambia and South Africa for performances. So we will take advantage of the trips to launch all of our albums at the same time,” he said.

Zonda said the trip is an opportunity for the choir to expand their fan base in their gospel music ministry.

“This opportunity shows that God has been gracious to us to break the borders. This is a chance for us to spread the word of God beyond Malawi.

“For instance, before our shows in Pretoria, we will be expected to minister at Bushiri’s church,” he said.
