White batted first to make 153 runs in 20-overs, but Grey put up a gallant fight to make 156 runs in the second innings. Shafik Bamet played orchestrated Grey’s success story by top-scoring with 51 runs.

It was not surprising, therefore, to see Bamet winning the man-of-the-match accolade. His teammates Sohel Malik and Akil Bapu won the players of the tournament and best batsman awards, respectively. White found solace in producing the tournament’s best bowler Zahid Mahmood.

Grey reached the finals after beating MSC Silver in semi-finals while White booted out favourites MSC Orange.

“It has been a wonderful tournament for us. We played as a team from the beginning of the competition and we are happy that our hard work has borne such a sweet success,” said Grey’s captain Llyas Bhiku, who claimed two wickets in the final alongside Soyab Pathan and Irfan Vadiwala.

His White counterpart Mahmood attributed their stumble to their miscalculation of their batting techniques.

Nevertheless, the competition’s organising committee chairperson Shiraz Zaveri described the final as very entertaining.
