Guarino, Karuku win Kingfisher Ball Pool

Adriel Guarino and Connie Muguvu-Karuku on Wednesday won Kingfisher Insurance Brokers Ball Pool in men and ladies’ categories, respectively, at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC).

Playing off handicap (h/c)16, Guarino had a score of  21 points. He counted out Gift Gondwe (25h/c).

Edward Kauka (22h/c) was third with 20 points. He counted out BSC golf captain Sam Mwale (12h/c).

In the ladies category, Muguvu-Karuku (24h/c) had 17 points, pipping her runner-up Joline Bapu-Pereira (h/c22) by a point.

“This was a difficult tournament because the course is changing as a result of the rains, so you really need to be on top of your game to win,” said Muguvu-Karuku.

Guarino received a braai stand and a trophy whereas Muguvu-Karuku was rewarded with 26 piece new bone dinner set and a trophy.

Hudson Kantwanje had the longest drive on hole 15 whereas Goodwin Chimseu  was nearest to the pin on hole 10.

A representative of the sponsor, Chimwemwe Julius, thanked the golfers for taking part in the event despite the weather.

“We sponsor golf to interact with our customers on our services and also get their feedback and suggestions on how we can improve our services,” he said.

Mwale thanked the golfers for braving the rains to take part in the tournament. n
