The Golf Union of Malawi (GUoM) has set a top three finish target for the national golf team at the Zone VI Golf Tournament to be held in Swaziland from April 13.

GUoM vice-president Hudson Kantwanje said this during a press briefing in Blantyre on Wednesday.

The team, which is scheduled to fly out to Swaziland on Monday, also got a timely boost ahead of the tournament when it received sets of uniform from Old Mutual worth K2.2 million.

Three up-and-coming players from the junior national side have been included in the eight-member team and these are Simon Moses—a product of the junior golf development project, Witman Brown and Bob Dambo.

The rest are battle-hardened Paul Chidale, Adam Sailesi, Dan Phiri, George Chisambo and Kondwani Mphula. Coach Christ Kachiguma is also part of the team that will be led by team manager and leader of delegation Charles Merrick.

And speaking after presenting the uniforms, Old Mutual corporate affairs and marketing executive Linda Phoya said they pride themselves in being a golf partner, in particular the national team. n
