Making strides in music: Namadingo

Namadingo has planned a double launch for his Ya Symon album he will first bring it to the public on Friday evening at Comesa Hall in Blantyre, then a similar event will be held the following day in Lilongwe at Bingu International Convention Centre (Bicc).

On the other hand, hip-hop gospel artist Gwamba will unveil his second gospel album, Mama Said God First, on Saturday afternoon at Lilongwe Golf Club during an event which will be preceded by a number of activities such as food fair, aerobics and children playground.

Namadingo has broken his tradition of going it all alone during his album launches by getting on board Zambia’s current female artist of the year, gospel artist Wezi who will perform as an opening act during the shows.

The Msati Mseke creator has also revealed that on the set there will also be space for Joe Kellz and John JJ Kutsokwe, who have recently done covers for his two songs Tandigwire and Mtendere respectively.

Namadingo, who refers himself as an inspirational artist, said his new offering has two themes with one side containing songs which are strictly gospel while the other  has conscious music. The album contains 21 songs.

Some of the songs in the album are Tchafwa, Vinyo, Wayima, Kwa Zaka Zaka, Lucas, Alafuledi Ndi Dominic, Nyetima and Padoko.

South Africa-based Gwamba will officially launch his second album Mama Said God First which is a sequel to his highly-acclaimed debut gospel offering Jesus Is My Boss having brought it to the public a month ago during a listening session at N1 Café in Lilongwe.

The album launch will be supported by an array of stars such as Charisma, Lawi, Onesimus, Nimix, Kell Kay, Praise Petersen, Fredokiss, Toast, Great Angels Choir and Symon and Kendal.

“As you know this whole week has been dedicated to be the Mama Said God First week. We have run several initiatives such as meet and greet around the townships. But that has not stopped us from tuning up the performance part of the event. We are ready to offer a good show,” he said. The 12-track album features other great talents from Malawi, South Africa and Nigeria. Some of the notable names are Lawi, Dan Lu, Onesimus from Malawi, Tumi from South Africa, Praise Peterson from Zimbabwe and Nimix from Nigeria.
