“I’m not going back to Malawi to make secular music,” he wrote.

Friday evening, he finally announced the change on his Facebook page:

“I would like to announce that from now onwards I will be making music for the Lord and I will have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with secular music.

“The Lord has been amazing to me and I am a sinner, this is the least I can do for God.”

Gwamba pleaded with people to understand and support his decision.

“I hope you will still support me and may the grace of God be with you in return. I love you all and thank you so much for taking me this far, now it’s time for God to take me further,” he said.

Details of his trip to South Africa where he apparently made the decision, remain sketchy.

Gwamba has followed the footsteps of other musicians like Mlaka Maliro, San B, and Onesmus Kalua.
