Colonel Ian Chirwa was elected vice-captain whereas Francis Mwamadi is the secretary. Nickson Makawa is the new treasurer. According to the resolution of the AGM, the new office bearers will decide on the composition of committee members. The new committee is mandated to run the show for a period of one year.

In an interview, Chiona said his committee’s immediate task will be to increase the number of golfers at the club.

“Some golfers have left and we need to find replacements. It will not be an easy task, but we will hold some golf clinics to those who have interest in the sport. We will make deliberate efforts to approach people from institutions such as Malawi Defence Force [MDF], Chancellor College and even the Malawi Police Service [MPS],” he said.

The new golf captain added that although there are few corporate partners in Zomba, they will continue to woo others elsewhere to support their cause.
