Former People’s Party (PP) vice-president for the Northern Region, I would realise that while the reason for my quitting would be genuine, the timing raises doubts.
If I were Mlekanjara, I would appreciate that the obvious question people will ask is at what point did I realise that PP is linked to Cashgate?
If indeed I was bothered by PP’s connection to Cashgate, then the right time to resign would have been when the scam was new. Otherwise, the picture I am painting is that I am out to buy political favours.
How I wish I were bwana Mkandawire because I would appreciate that so far, there is no concrete evidence linking former president Joyce Banda to Cashgate and hence, no need at this point for her to prove that she did not play a role.
Perhaps if I were him, I would come up with a more convincing reason of quitting PP other than the one I gave. Unfortunately, I am not Mlekanjara. PPPPP!!! Odiii ukoooo!
