Leopards missed promotion after being counted out on goal difference by Jomo Cosmos who are back in the PSL after beating already relegated Moroka Swallows 1-0 in PSL promotional play-off match at Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday night through substitute Wiseman Maluleke’s 76th minute strike.

The win saw Cosmos—once home to many Malawian players— top the play-off league table with seven points, the same as Leopards, but with a superior goal difference.

Nyirenda, who will join the national team camp when it returns from Egypt this Monday, said he would see out his contract which ends next June at Leopards.

“As a captain, we let the team and supporters down, but I feel proud of the way we have played the whole season. It was not easy for us to come from number 11 and to finish number three in the league and compete for the play-offs,” Nyirenda said.”
