Mpinganjira was, on doctors’ advice, unable to return with the Malawi Olympic team on August 12 after suffering an asthma attack, MOC president Oscar Kanjala confirmed on Wednesday.

“There is no cause for alarm. She is not in serious condition. She should be returning home in a few days’ time,” said Kanjala.

Kanjala had no details of the name of the hospital where Mpinganjira is admitted to. Kanjala said the Local Organising Committee (LOC) “takes charge when officials and athletes are taken ill.”
