Henry Chimunthu Banda
Speaker of the National Assembly, I would apply Section 65 and act on MPs deemed to have crossed the floor.
If I were Kaka Chimunthu, I would realise that since most of the MPs claim to have consulted their constituents before joining other parties, it is only right and proper that the same constituents give them a fresh mandate.
How I wish I were the Speaker, because I would realise that the required duration for the MPs to explain their position has since elapsed; hence, the need to take a firm line and act on the issue.
I would realise, if I were ‘Mr Speaker sir,’ that the issue is a constitutional crisis that needs to be sorted out once and for all.
If I were the Speaker, I would realise that if I do not act on the matter, I will be viewed as being afraid of the powers that be.
That is if only I were Chimunthu Banda. Fortunately enough, I am not ‘Mr Speaker sir!’
