Hindus in Malawi celebrate New Year
Hindus in Blantyre on Wednesday joined the rest of the world in celebrated their New Year (Diwali), an occasion they used to pray for peace and reliable rains in Malawi.
 Chairperson of the Hindu Community Veni Ganatra and his deputy Vikkesh Vanzara asked Hindus in the country to be agents of peace in the country.
“It is our plea to see parents coming with their children to the temple at least once a week so that they are conversant with the beliefs of our religion.
“Whenever we are celebrating our New Year, we ask God to give us good rains that will not destroy our crops. We also ask God to grant us peace so that we live in harmony,” said Ganatra.
The celebrations started on Tuesday night with fire crackers.
