Humba may go unopposed at SRFC polls

Humba close up mar3 | The Nation OnlineSouthern Region Football Committee (SRFC) chairperson Raphael Humba is set to go unopposed during the committee’s elections set for Mpaweni Motel in Liwonde this morning.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda confirmed that Humba and both his deputies Pharaoh Phiri and William Gowelo are tipped to be ushered in unopposed as they have no challengers.

But general secretary Lyson Gowa-Banda willcontest with Grey Mabvumbe. The position of vice-general secretary has attracted three contestants namely Daniel Mbetewa, Evance Sulani and Francis Malunguzi.

Harrison Chimombo and Daudi Mtanthiko will contest for the position of treasurer while Rajab Namalaka is also unopoosed on the position of vice-treasurer.

Darwin Nhlane, Mario Gadaga, Tiziona Banda and Steven Kumadzi will vie for executive committee membership positions.

Humba also said he is proud of his achievements; hence the confidence from the affiliates in his leadership.

“We have made a very big impact in the just ended term. We have secured sponsorship for five districts namely Mulanje, Thyolo, Phalombe, Chiradzulu and Mangochi,” said Humba.
