Hungarian Trade Culture Centre (HTCC) recently organised a Hungarian Day with a treat of traditional Hungarian dish called ‘Gulyás’ to about 200 pupils from Jacaranda and some orphans from surrounding areas in Blantyre.

This is the first time for HTCC to commemorate the day in Malawi.

At the function, businessperson Gaffar Omar was presented with a mandate by the Chamber of Trade and Culture of Budapest to represent Hungary in Malawi.

The celebration was spiced with music performances by Agorosso, Jacaranda Choir and a talent show by pupils. Blantyre Round Table donated drinks.

Agorosso is no stranger to HTCC as he was sponsored by the organisation to perform in Hungary and Austria in May this year where he received an award for promoting African culture.

Since its inception in Malawi in March this year, HTCC has also been involved in charity work in the health sector by medical doctors from Hungary who have worked in rural areas.

The doctors, who worked in collaboration with Limbe Muslim Jamaat Medical Services, provided medical services to Comboni, Mikolongwe and Liwonde communities. n
