Standard Bank has stepped up the hype for the final of the eighth knockout cup edition at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe tomorrow by lining up several pre-match events.

The bank’s head of marketing Chimwemwe Matonga yesterday said, among other activities, the trophy will arrive at the stadium with skydivers.

“The skydivers are coming from South Africa. When they land with the trophy, they will be received by CEO Andrew Mashanda and visiting Ghanaian soccer star and captain, Asamoah Gyan, who in turn, will hand over the trophy to FAM president Walter Nyamilandu,” said Matonga.

He said Nyamilandu will then hand over the trophy to the guest of honour, Youth and Sports Development Minister Grace Chiumia.

“There will also be entertainment cheerleaders and bodybuilders. Spectators that will come early will receive a variety of gifts,” said Matonga.

To cap it all, the bank has organised a prize presentation ceremony at Ufulu Gardens.

Meanwhile, Tigers’ Ndirande Township-based fan Maria Chapola set up the final hype by declaring that the KauKau will win the cup.

“Amene akwera inayo abetsa, kapu tikutenga iyi ibwera kumpanda. I will be part of the fun in Lilongwe, go konko!” said Chapola.

But Silver’s Lilongwe-based diehard Paul Zoyipa said the KauKau will be fighting a losing battle.

“Matiga sangatichinye, ndiye malozatu. Akafera zaeni pachiweru,” said Zoyipa.
